This is it! Time to make the big move! But don’t forget a few important details. Take all papers from the closing and receipts from your entire selling process, like home repairs, and file them away. You will need them for your tax return in the upcoming year.

Next, go to your local post office and fill out a change of address form. Notify associates, creditors, doctor’s offices, and publications, etc, of your new address. Also remember to register to vote in your new city.

Finally, have your utilities turned off. If you are purchasing another home, try to have your company turn off the utilities of the old home and turn on the utilities of the new home around the same time; around the date of the closing.
